Brightline to run trains at 110 mph for testing

by carlislewillard

The next phase of the high-speed, 129-mile rail connection between South Florida and Orlando is scheduled to start Saturday and continue through March, with trains running at 110 mph from West Palm Beach to Jupiter.

Testing on Brightline’s tracks will take place daily from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Flaggers will be present at railroad crossings when there is active testing, company officials said.

Brightline is installing safety improvements at 156 crossings along the corridor. The number of accidents along the rail have made it the deadliest rail line per mile nationally, according to the Associated Press’ analysis.
