Former Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is running for Florida Democratic Party Chair after all.
Fried, born and raised in Miami, announced Monday she will seek the party’s top job, reversing a prior decision rejecting a run and putting her on a collision course with Carolina Ampudia, Alex Berrios, Rick Hoye and former Miami state Sen. Annette Taddeo, who’s been racking up endorsements.
One will succeed Chair Manny Diaz of Miami, who resigned in January after a disastrous midterm for Florida Democrats.
Echoing messaging from her gubernatorial campaign last year, Fried vowed to bring “something new” to the role if elected.
