The 22nd-ranked Miami Hurricanes men’s baseball team appeared to be heading for certain defeat Sunday, down 2-1 with two outs and no one on base in the ninth inning.
But then came a last-minute cracker, the Miami Herald reported.
First, Edgardo Villegas got to first base. And then Miami first baseman CJ Kayfus delivered the knock-out swing.
He hit a 406-foot walk-off homer that left the crowd “stunned,” the Herald reported.
The play sealed the ‘Canes opening season series victory. The team dropped the first game to Penn State but then came back strong and wrapped up the series 2-1.
