No-show diners

by carlislewillard

It’s high season in SWFL. That means more traffic, crowded beaches and hard-to-get-into restaurants.

Some dining establishments are charging fees to hold your table, but a new survey by SevenRooms – a restaurant tech platform that interviewed thousands of Americans – says 71% of Americans won’t pay to cancel, with 21% lying about a family medical emergency.

SevenRooms CMO Josh Todd says some restaurants keep track of cancellations and can ban you from reservation booking apps. “Just be honest,” he says, “and they’ll usually understand and be able to accommodate you in some way.”

The best bet? Give that reservation to a friend.
