Democratic Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava is officially running for re-election. For now, she’s the only candidate.
The first woman and Jewish person elected Mayor in Miami-Dade, Levine Cava’s first term saw reduced property taxes, a 1.5% unemployment rate, billions of dollars reserved for affordable housing and environmental initiatives including septic-to-sewer conversions and a multiyear plan to address extreme heat.
“Now more than ever,” she said, “we (must) fight for our freedoms so our residents can have their voices heard in government and our neighbors can feel safe in their communities, while having an equal shot at the American dream.”
