Not long ago, the town of Hillsboro Beach was suing its neighbor to the north, claiming that the sand groins on Deerfield Beach’s coastline were starving the town of its sand.
That case was settled and now the two neighbors are embarking on a joint beach renourishment project next month. Residents will see staging equipment being set up along the beach, Deerfield Beach officials say.
The project combatting erosion is expected to place about 233,000 cubic yards of new sand along the shore. That’s close to 15,000 dump trucks’ worth. The project should be concluded before the end of April.
