Key West International Airport received a curious arrival Saturday: a motorized hang glider carrying two migrants who flew 90 miles from Cuba to Florida’s southmost tip.
As reported by the Associated Press, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the duo landed at about 10:30 a.m. before being apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol.
“No reported injuries,” Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar wrote on Twitter to numerous responses.
One came from conservative commentator Michael Knowles, a noted anti-immigration advocate.
He offered a benevolent take: “(Any) Cuban who can land a hang glider at Miami airport should get a free pass.”
