Senate, House also take different paths on funding of Miami trails

Senate and House lawmakers also aren’t in agreement on budget earmarks for two bicycle and pedestrian paths stretching 30 miles along Miami-Dade County’s primary transit corridor.

Under the Senate plan for 2023-24, a 10-mile linear park under the Metrorail called the Underline would receive $1.5 million for upgrades.

The same sum would go to the South Dade Trail, a route running 20 miles alongside U.S. 1 and the South Dade Transitway between the Metrorail’s southernmost station in Kendall and Florida City.

The House proposal more generously offers the Underline and South Dade Trail $2 million and $3 million, respectively.
