South Florida’s Winner and Loser of the Week

by carlislewillard

Winner: Brad Levine

Gov. Ron DeSantis tapped Levine for another five-year term serving on the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) board of trustees. Then-Gov. Rick Scott first appointed Levine to the body in 2018. Levine now serves as Chair and has gotten to oversee quite an NCAA tourney run by FAU’s men’s basketball team.

Loser: Miami-Dade pedestrian paths

The Senate’s proposed (but not yet final) budget lowers funding levels for The Underline and the South Dade Trail. The projects got $3 million each last year. But this year’s proposal lowers that to $1.5 million each, half of what the county asked for.
