Commuters have new park and ride option

A new park and ride in Miramar is opening next week.

The new, $8 million facility, located on the east side of Hiatus Road between Pembroke Road and Miramar Boulevard, was planned to support express bus service to downtown Miami and Brickell, although there’s no stop there just yet.

The lot will have spaces for 442 cars, 28 oversized vehicles and 18 buses. There will be two dedicated bus bays, six extra-large transit shelters with solar-powered lighting, 911 cell towers and on-site security.

Broward County Transit, the city of Miramar and the Florida Department of Transportation collaborated on the project.
