Broward suffers post-flood fuel shortage

by The 100 Companies

Historic rainfall that flooded east Broward County and shut down its main airport going into the weekend left many motorists this week scrambling for gas amid long lines and bagged pumps at stations.

The fuel shortage stems from issues at Port Everglades, where overrunning waters damaged the fuel pumps of 12 companies that operate there, the port’s CEO, Jonathan Daniels, told Local 10.

Accordingly, filling up a vehicle in South Florida’s largest metro areas cost the most in the state, which saw a 2-cent increase last week in gas prices due to OPEC decisions and a shift to “summer blend” fuel.
