One week after Luis Arraez became the first Marlin to hit for the cycle, No. 14 Miami prospect Victor Mesa Jr. did the same Sunday for the team’s Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos affiliate.
Neither had previously accomplished the feat, according to MLB.com’s Christina De Nicola.
Mesa produced an RBI single in the first, doubled in the fourth, tripled in the sixth and cracked a 407-foot homer in the eighth.
Coincidentally, Arraez played in 2019 for the Wahoos, then a Minnesota Twins affiliate. Mesa is the second Wahoos ballplayer to get the cycle after Donald Lutz did so April 21, 2014.
