Democratic Congressman Jared Moskowitz is calling for a field hearing on gun violence and how acting against gun violence isn’t the political death sentence some Republicans act like it is.
For the setting, he’s suggesting Parkland, where the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High massacre prompted lawmakers to pass Florida’s first major gun reforms in decades.
In a letter to GOP committee Chairs, Moskowitz pitched the hearing as a springboard for bipartisan change.
“I saw in person the aftermath of my high school where a mass shooting occurred,” he wrote, “(and) that Republicans could enact ‘red flag laws’ (and) win re-election.”
