CFO Jimmy Patronis stopped by Hialeah this week to spread the word alongside Miami-Dade leaders about Florida’s expanded home-hardening grant program now taking applications.
The My Safe Florida Home Program will provide homeowners with up to $10,000 to upgrade their windows and doors with impact-resistant material. Eligible homes include those with insured values of up to $700,000.
There’s no sales tax on the upgrades through June 30, 2024. And, once a homeowner hardens their property, they can request a windstorm mitigation inspection that can result in an insurance rebate and lowered yearly rates thereafter.
“It’s a win-win-win,” Patronis said. “It’s a no-brainer.”
