Gov. Ron DeSantis again put pen to paper to curb human trafficking in Florida.
DeSantis signed three measures – SB 7064, SB 1690 and HB 1465 – to enable victims to sue traffickers and adult entertainment sites, improve preventative measures at hotels, motels and victim shelters and hike penalties for traffickers who use guns to commit their crimes.
He also ratified SB 1210, which provides confidentiality to victims seeking to expunge their public records, at a signing Tuesday in Lighthouse Point.
Florida has had the third-most human trafficking cases of any state in the U.S., per the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
