South Florida’s Winner and Loser of the Week

Winner: Freddy Ramirez

Ramirez netted $100,000 in his first month competing for the new elected position as Miami-Dade County Sheriff. Ramirez currently serves as the county’s Police Director, but the Mayor currently oversees the county’s policing. Fundraising reports for others in the race are due June 12.

Loser: Anthony DeFillipo

The North Miami Beach Mayor is facing 15 years behind bars after Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced charges that DeFillipo voted from an address where he didn’t live. He’s facing three third-degree felony counts, adding to allegations he has been serving as Mayor while not residing in the city.
