Former Rep. Joe Saunders, who is running to again serve in the Legislature, now has backing from Democratic leaders in both its chambers.
Senate Democratic Leader-designate Jason Pizzo and House Democratic Leader Fentrice Driskell threw their support behind Saunders in the race for coastal House District 106, which runs from Miami Beach to Aventura.
Saunders is running to unseat Republican Rep. Fabían Basabe, who faces ample negative attention and calls to resign over his alleged misconduct and legislative record.
Pizzo said Saunders has “demonstrated, courageous, result-driven leadership throughout his career.”
Added Driskell, “Joe is the right person for the job.”
