Interfaith prayer service held for Miami-Dade Sheriff after attempted suicide

One week after Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez attempted suicide following a domestic altercation at a conference in Tampa, first responders and elected officials held a vigil to pray for his recovery.

And he is recovering, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava told attendees of the interfaith service at the 93rd Street Community Baptist Church Monday evening.

“Stronger each and every day, and that alone is a true miracle,” she said.

A frontrunner for Sheriff, Ramirez shot himself in the head July 24 on I-75 after a dispute with his wife. He remains in stable condition and reportedly suffered no brain damage.
