Aventura hosts Israeli Mayor for historic sister-city agreement

by The 100 Companies

Nearly 30 years after its incorporation, Aventura established its first sister-city agreement.

The city formalized the relationship Friday with Modi’in, a 90,000-resident municipality in Israel between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Modi’in Mayor Haim Bibas accepted the pact and a Magen David Adom ambulance Aventura donated to his city in person.

Aventura Mayor Howard Weinberg said there is an “unbreakable bond” between Israel and his city, which has more Jewish residents than any other Miami-Dade municipality.

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, Sens. Shevrin Jones and Jason Pizzo, Reps. Christopher Benjamin and Randy Fine, and Miami-Dade Commissioner Micky Steinberg attended the event.
