The Florida Democratic Party is urging members to confirm they’re still election-ready after ex-Key Biscayne Mayor Mike Davey revealed the state removed him in October from its active voters list.
Davey, a Democrat running in Congressional District 27, said he easily reactivated his voter status. Miami-Dade Elections officials blamed a mistake with his address.
But what happened to him is happening more frequently following the passage of election laws in 2022 and 2023 to stifle voter registration and voter fraud.
Nearly one million Florida voters have been deactivated since last year. Democrats and no-party voters accounted for 90% of them.
