Joe Biden admin asks SCOTUS to scuttle Seminole Gaming Compact challenge

by The 100 Companies

President Joe Biden’s administration is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to reject a challenge to Florida’s deal with the Seminole Tribe allowing sports betting, citing “flawed” arguments by the plaintiffs.

Department of Justice attorneys filed a motion this month urging the court to forgo a hearing for two Florida companies suing to kill the Seminole Gaming Compact. Among other things, it argues that the plaintiffs wrongly say the agreement violates the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

The motion could herald the conclusion of a lengthy effort to kill the deal, estimated to deliver $20 billion for Florida over three decades.
