Winner: Democratic Broward School Board candidates

Democrats running for Broward School Board are getting a double dose of extra support. The Florida Democratic Party is promising money and grassroots support for School Board members Debbi Hixon and Sarah Leonardi, as well as candidate Rebecca Thompson.

LGBTQ groups are also backing Leonardi, Thompson and District 1 candidate Maura McCarthy Bulman.

Loser: Alex Díaz de la Portilla

The suspended Miami Commissioner’s trial is set for Dec. 2. Díaz de la Portilla is being accused of corruption for taking political contributions in exchange for Commission votes.

That led to Díaz de la Portilla’s suspension.
