‘Tropical Storm Debby’ may form over weekend off South Florida coast

by The 100 Companies

A tropical depression could develop this weekend or early next week off the coast of South Florida, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. And if sustained winds reach 39 mph, it may form into the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season: “Tropical Storm Debby.”

NHC meteorologists said Wednesday that the system has a 60% chance of forming into a tropical storm by next Wednesday – up from 50% two days prior.

Southeast and Southwest Florida are both within the projected path of the potential storm known as the cone of concern.

Landfall could come as early as Friday.
