Far fewer South Florida voters participated in this year’s Primary than in 2020

Amid plummeting vote-by-mail participation statewide, far fewer South Floridians voted in this year’s Primary than in 2020.

Voting in the tri-county area fell 33% compared to the last presidential Primary. In 2020, 1 million South Floridians voted. This year, fewer than 676,000 did.

In Miami-Dade, 19.5% of 1.47 million registered voters cast Primary ballots this year. Four years ago, 28% of 1.5 million voters voted.

In Broward, 17.5% of 1.1 million voters voted in this year’s Primary, compared to 26% of 1.2 million in 2020.

In Palm Beach, 22% of 862,008 voters voted this Primary. Close to 27% of 991,464 did in 2020.
