Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw has a foe in an old friend. Michael Gauger, who spent 16 years as Bradshaw’s second-in-command, is now gunning for his job.
Bradshaw beat fellow Democrat Alex Freeman in the Primary with 61% of votes, while Gauger bested fellow Republican Lauro Diaz with a 53.5% vote share.
Gauger’s bid to supplant Bradshaw, a five-term Sheriff, is his first run at elected office. It hasn’t been without snags.
A hot mic caught him using colorful language at a July candidates forum. This month, an attack video accused him of stolen valor. Gauger called it a “smear.”
