The Palm Beach GOP just made the House District 89 race financially competitive.
Republican Daniel Zapata, who is running for HD 89 two years after term-limited Democratic Rep. David Silvers beat him, reported a $50,000 contribution from the party in his latest fundraising report.
It more than doubled his prior gains and sent him past his Democratic opponent, nonprofit executive Debra Tendrich, moneywise.
HD 89 covers a large inland portion of the county. Analysts lately deemed it a toss-up district.
Palm Beach GOP Chair Kevin Neal said Zapata’s donation came from the party’s massively successful Lincoln Day Dinner at Mar-a-Lago.
