Republican Palm Beach Sheriff candidate Michael Gauger thinks lax security by Democratic incumbent Ric Bradshaw was at least partially to blame for the Sept. 15 attempt on Donald Trump’s life.
Gauger, who long worked under Bradshaw, called his former boss “flippant” about the issue, accusing him of showing little urgency before the attack and insufficient contrition after.
“Trump is our resident,” he said. “We should provide whatever is needed to protect him.”
Bradshaw said Guager is “clueless” about the Sheriff’s role in guarding ex-Presidents, noting that Trump thanked him after the attack for doing an “incredible job” keeping him safe.
