The runoff between ex-Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner and Raquel Regalado, the incumbent Miami-Dade Commissioner she’s challenging in District 7, is “very winnable” for Lerner, internal polling shows.
A survey of likely Nov. 5 voters Lerner’s campaign commissioned found 37% of respondents preferred Lerner, a Democrat, compared to 36% for Regalado, a far better funded Republican. The poll had a 6-percentage-point margin of error.
After respondents heard negative information about Regalado, favor swung a net 12 points Lerner’s way. Forty-three percent said they preferred Lerner, while 30% stuck with Regalado, who beat Lerner by less than 1 point four years ago.
