Police booked the campaign treasurer of recent Republican Miami-Dade mayoral candidate Alex Otaola for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old boy.
An arrest affidavit shows Andy Santana is accused of grooming and escalating sexual activity with the unnamed minor, including penetrative sex, rape and encouraging the victim to use drugs.
The teen reported it to Hialeah police, providing video and photographic evidence.
Otaola, who placed third in the Mayor’s race, confirmed Santana worked for him.
“I have no control over the private lives of my employees,” he wrote on Facebook, “(but) I strongly condemn any illegal or morally questionable act.”
