Democratic U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson stopped by Miami’s City Commission chambers Tuesday to deliver a big check for a new youth facility at Athalie Range Park.
Wilson requested – and received – $1 million in federal funds for the to-be-built Little Haiti Youth Center. Once open, it will provide locals with a “safe, state-of-the-art space to gather and thrive,” Wilson’s office said.
Among other things, the 12,000-square-foot facility will feature a massive multipurpose room, computer lab, three homework rooms and an arts and crafts room, plus an indoor fitness area, kitchen and a large, shaded external plaza to support outdoor activities.
