Miami-Dade Dems infighting prompts Committee Chair’s ouster

by The 100 Companies

Behind-the-scenes discord among Miami-Dade Democratic Party leaders recently resulted in a Chair’s removal.

Longtime member Cecilia Tavera-Webman, the now-former Chair of the party’s Credentials Committee, emailed members to say she wasn’t voting for congressional candidate Lucia Báez-Geller or county Clerk candidate Annette Taddeo because they “do not deserve (her) vote.”

Sen. Shevrin Jones, the party Chair, then told members by text that he requested Tavera-Webman’s resignation. He confirmed with Florida Politics he’d since removed her.

It’s not appropriate, he said, “for someone in a leadership role – especially one overseeing induction of new members – to take actions that undermine party unity.”
