Ron Book nabs Nobel Peace Prize nom for nonprofit advocacy

by The 100 Companies

South Florida lobbyist, philanthropist and nonprofit leader Ron Book can add another title to his list: Nobel Peace Prize nominee.

U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a fellow Democrat, nominated Book for his decades of advocacy.

For 30-plus years, Book has chaired the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust, which helped reduce the county’s homeless population by 87.5% since 1993.

He’s also Chair and pro bono General Counsel for Lauren’s Kids, a nonprofit he co-founded with his daughter, Sen. Lauren Book, to fight childhood sex abuse.

“I’ve always believed,” Book said, “that we have an obligation to leave the world better than we found it.”
