3 of the state’s most likely red-to-blue House seat flips are in South Florida

Florida House Democrats need five extra seats after Nov. 5 to escape a GOP supermajority. Three of their best pick-up chances are in South Florida against freshman Republican lawmakers:

District 106, a dependably blue Miami Beach seat where Democrat Joe Saunders is challenging controversy-plagued Fabián Basabe, who narrowly won office in 2022.

District 91, where Democratic lawyer Jay Shooster faces Peggy Gossett-Seidman, an effective Palm Beach County policymaker with a funding disadvantage.

District 113, a slightly Democratic-leaning seat, where underfunded Democrat Jackie Gross-Kellogg faces Vicki Lopez, an effective Miami lawmaker with cross-aisle support who is under scrutiny for conflicts of interest.
