Republican counter-terrorism expert Joe Kaufman hopes to flip long-blue Congressional District 23 on Nov. 5.
It’s a long shot. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz has a deep history of local service, more campaign cash and noteworthy online fanfare.
Both are in their 40s, Jewish and staunch Israel supporters – a plus for the district’s large Jewish population.
CD 23 covers parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties. It’s shifting redder, but still leans Democratic by 6.5 percentage points.
The GOP still believes it’s in play. Last cycle, Republican Joe Budd came within 5 points of beating Moskowitz, with little institutional support.
