Democratic retired U.S. Navy pilot Phil Ehr doesn’t lack determination. After back-to-back losses in a deeply red Panhandle district, he’s aiming to represent Congressional District 28 spanning south Miami-Dade and Monroe County.
Obstructing him is Republican U.S. Rep. Carlos Giménez, a former Miami-Dade Mayor and Miami City Manager with deep roots in the district.
Modeling by The Hill shows a 91% chance Giménez wins a third term. But an internal poll Ehr’s campaign conducted last year revealed inroads if he could improve his name ID with district voters.
He’s done that, Ehr’s campaign told Florida Politics this week.
