Senate Democratic Leader-designate Jason Pizzo won re-election in Senate District 37, easily dispatching his challenger.
He took 58% of vote in Broward and Miami-Dade to defeat Imtiaz Mohammad, a Democrat-turned-Republican local business owner who by Election Day hadn’t collected one outside dollar.
Mohammad raised just $2,100. Pizzo raised and spent over $1 million, little of it on his campaign. He instead donated to others, including the Florida Democratic Party and the student-led Florida Future Leaders.
In the wake of Florida’s red wave, Pizzo said he’ll work to “initiate a course correction on a number of political issues” facing his party.
