President-elect Donald Trump’s existing and potential appointments are shaking up South Florida politics.
Lara Trump, Trump’s daughter-in-law and a Jupiter resident, just resigned as Republican National Committee Co-Chair as some speculate Gov. Ron DeSantis may name her to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, whom Trump tapped for Secretary of State.
DeSantis may instead choose Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez, a Miami native, for the job.
Nuñez could also be Florida’s first woman and Latina Governor if Trump follows through on rumors of selecting DeSantis as Secretary of Defense rather than Pete Hegseth, whose path to Senate confirmation has been rocky.
