Aventura lawyer Kevin Cooper is the new leader of the Miami-Dade GOP.

Members chose Cooper, a 31-year-old previously serving as Vice Chair, to succeed Hialeah Rep. Alex Rizo as Chair.

He defeated Sunny Isles Beach Commissioner Jerry Joseph for the job by an 83-15 vote.

Others elected included ex-Sweetwater Vice Mayor Luis Rodriguez as Vice Chair, former Florida Federation of College Republicans Chair Stephanie Torres as Treasurer and Abel Carvajal as Secretary.

Cooper told Florida Politics he plans to flip Miami-Dade, with GOP voters outnumbering Democrats by the end of 2025.

“I fully intend on winning the golden spatula,” he said.
