Democratic Sen. Shevrin Jones is arranging a slate of policy proposals inspired by his north Miami-Dade district.
Some, like a measure to ban brick-and-mortar businesses from refusing cash, are reruns of past bills.
Others are new, like one designed to deal with abandoned vessels littering Biscayne Bay. The idea, he said, is to increase marine patrols while allotting maintenance departments more resources to remove the boats.
Another bill would prevent the city of North Miami Beach from overcharging Miami Gardens residents for water services. Miami Gardens won a lawsuit over the matter this year, but Jones says legislation is needed.
