Palm Beach native Alexcia Cox was sworn in as the county’s new State Attorney, becoming the first woman and Black person to hold the job.
She celebrated her “big moment,” then focused on her Assistant State Attorneys, imploring them to work with renewed passion.
“This moment does not just belong to me; this is our moment,” she said. “We get to write the next chapter in the story of our Office’s history.”
Cox, who succeeds Dave Aronberg, spent 18 years at the Office, rising to Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney.
She won a close contest for the position in November.
