Boynton Beach Rep. Hillary Cassel left the Democratic Party to join the GOP. The switch caught the President-elect’s attention.
Donald Trump applauded Cassel’s flip, which followed another by Tampa Rep. Susan Valdés.
“I would further like to invite other Disillusioned Democrats to switch parties,” Trump wrote on X, “and join us on this noble quest to Save Our Country and, Make America Great Again.”
Cassel said she’d grown “increasingly troubled” by Democrats’ “failure to unequivocally support Israel” and “inability … to relate to everyday Floridians.”
Republican Speaker Daniel Perez has since given Cassel a leadership post on a House insurance panel.
