Sen. Lori Berman is again carrying numerous family-focused measures for this year’s Session.
One would help minors who are responsible for the care of family members. Another would more than double the voluntary prekindergarten hours public and private schools must offer.
Berman also hopes to cap the cost of diagnostic breast exams, allow political candidates to use campaign funds for child care, create a universal free school breakfast and lunch program, and provide state employees 12 weeks of paid maternity or paternity leave.
South Florida Democrats Jervonte Edmonds, Kelly Skidmore and Marie Woodson are carrying companion bills in the House.
