Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has a new top executive: former House Majority Leader Adam Hasner.
The FAU Board of Trustees unanimously picked Hasner, a private prison company executive, to serve as the school’s eighth President.
“(FAU) is a shining example of what a modern university can achieve,” he said. “I am honored to be chosen to lead this incredible institution.”
Hasner was among three finalists for the job. He was the only one without a background in higher education administration.
But he is a longtime champion of FAU, having led past legislative efforts to secure ample funding for the university.
