Like other Democrats, Todd Delmay was dismayed when Rep. Hillary Cassel switched to Republican after winning re-election in House District 101 last year.
Now he’s running to unseat her in the Broward County district.
“Voters in District 101 deserve a leader who will never betray their trust,” he said.
Delmay, 53, is the Executive Director of SAVE, Florida’s longest-running LGBTQ rights organization. He and his husband made history in 2015 as one of Florida’s first six legally wed same-sex couples.
The 2026 race could be a rematch; Delmay challenged Cassel in the 2022 Democratic Primary, but lost by 6 points.
