Legislation that would extend to voters the same flood risk disclosure requirements now mandated in home sales is advancing in the Legislature.
Companion bills by Fleming Island Republican Sen. Jennifer Bradley and Parkland Democratic Rep. Christine Hunschofsky both received unanimous approval in their first committee stops.
“This (legislation) goes a long way to giving tenants the information they need to assess the risks before they enter into a residential lease and also incentivizes the purchase of flood insurance when they get that material information,” Bradley said of the proposal, which builds on a law she and Hunschofsky passed last year.
