Broward Judge Gary Farmer is demanding a trial over charges he acted so inappropriately from the bench that he should be suspended, and he wants to keep hearing cases until his trial concludes.
In Florida Supreme Court filings this week, Farmer’s lawyer said “no urgent grounds or genuine exigent circumstances” exist to necessitate his immediate removal.
The Judicial Qualifications Commission recommended Farmer’s suspension in April, arguing his lewd remarks, questionable actions and excessive absences demonstrated an “unfitness to serve.”
Farmer, a former state Senator, called the charges overblown or inaccurate and insisted he’s since stopped making “bad jokes” at work.
