The Miami-Dade Commission and Broward School Board have each added a new member after their predecessors resigned.
In Miami-Dade, the County Commission voted 9-3 to appoint Natalie Milian Orbis to replace Kevin Marino Cabrera, who left to serve as President Donald Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to Panama.
In Broward, the County School Board welcomed lawyer Adam Cervera to take over for Brenda Fam, who resigned May 1 citing “personal attacks” and “unprofessional behavior” by other members.
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Cervera.
Coincidentally, both appointees represent District 6 on their respective panels. They’re also both Republican and have terms ending in 2026.
