Senate Democratic leadership control remains in South Florida with Lori Berman

by Sally Schroder

Senate Democrats kept looking to South Florida for guidance after former Leader Jason Pizzo of Hollywood abruptly resigned from the post and left the party last month.

They quickly elected Boynton Beach Sen. Lori Berman as his replacement. She declared the caucus is now “more unified and more determined” than ever.

Berman has since rounded out her team, keeping Jacksonville Sen. Tracie Davis as Leader Pro Tempore and selecting St. Petersburg Sen. Darryl Rouson as Rules Chair, Boca Raton Sen. Tina Polsky as Policy Chair, and Sens. Shevrin Jones of Miami Gardens and Rosalind Osgood of Tamarac as Democratic Whips.
