A Democratic contest for the right to challenge Republican U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar in Florida’s 27th Congressional District is getting interesting, with two notable candidates now running.
The first is former Key Biscayne Mayor Mike Davey, who placed second in last year’s Democratic Primary. He’s running again, he said, to combat “forces of cynicism and division” in Washington.
Then there’s first-time candidate Richard Lamondin, an environmental services entrepreneur who promises “real action to address the rising cost of living.”
Polling by Lamondin’s campaign, which reported raising $100,000 in one day, shows he’s competitive with Salazar among informed voters.
