Fabián Basabe embraces eye-catching stunts to engage constituents

Miami Beach Rep. Fabián Basabe is using unconventional tactics to connect with constituents and promote civic engagement.

The Republican lawmaker is proposing a public town hall this Fall, complete with a dunk tank where residents can drench him for charity. Proceeds would benefit the local PTA.

Basabe said his aim for the event is to inform residents about new state legislation, including five bills he successfully carried this year.

He is also skydiving with the U.S. Army’s Golden Knights during the city’s Hyundai Air and Sea Show this Memorial Day weekend. It’s his first jump, he told Florida Politics.
